Department “Remote sensing and GIS”, Space Research and Technology Institute – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (SRTI-BAS) and 119th Secondary School “Acad. Mikhail Arnaudov” organized the 2nd Summer school EEOBSS. The Summer School under the project “Education in Earth Observation for Bulgarian Secondary Schools” (EEOBSS) was held in the period 26-28 June 2018 in the building of 119th SS “Acad. Mikhail Arnaudov”. Students from 9th to 12th grade from the school were acquainted with the application of modern geoinformation technologies for analysis of satellite imagery of the Earth. During the three days of the Summer School students had the opportunity to learn about the theoretical foundations of Earth observation from Space; GNSS, GPS and Galileo technologies and their applications, as well as the image pre-processing and satellite imagery classification methods. Lecturers in the summer school were Prof. DST Garo Mardirossian (SRTI-BAS), Prof. DST Dimitar Dimitrov (NIGGG-BAS) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lachezar Filchev (SRTI-BAS). All participants in the Summer School received certificates which are a testimonial for extracurricular activities in the application of Bulgarian and foreign universities.
