On 30.05-01.06.2019, the 15th “Astro-Party Baykal 2019” was held. The event is organized annually by OCIDZI-Baikal village, Dolna Mitropoliya municipality on the bank of the Danube River, under the patronage of the Mayor of Dolna Mitropoliya Municipality, Mrs. Polia Tsonovska. For the tenth consecutive time, the event was included in the National Calendar for Interests of Children and Students of the Ministry of Education and Science. The main organizer is the Municipal Center for Out-of-School Activities and Interests (OCIDZI) – Baikal Village, and international partners are the International Astronomical Union (IAU), the European Association for Astronomy Education (EAEA), the GTTP – Galileo Teachers Training Program, EUN (European School Net) – SCIENTIX, UNAWE – UNIVERSE AWARENESS, SPACE AWARENESS and SpaceEU. The partners to the event were Space Research and Technologies Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (SRTI-BAS), the Association of Astronomers in Bulgaria, Department of Astronomy – Faculty of Physics of Sofia University and the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IMI-BAS).
One of the central events of ASTRO-PARTY BAYKAL 2019 was the special workshop of the European Space Agency’s EEOBSS project. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lachezar Filchev presented the project and the tutorial for extracurricular activities in natural sciences “Earth Observation from Space”. One of the authors of the handbook Prof. D.Sc. Garo Mardirosian presented an interesting presentation on “What we do not know about space and space technologies”. Twenty copies of the school handbook were donated to all schools and institutions participating in ASTRO-PARTY BAYKAL 2019.
