The EEOBSS Summer School (SS) will be carried out between 8 and 12 September 2017 at the 7th Secondary School Kuzman Shapkarev in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. The SS will gather around 30 students from Bulgarian secondary schools to acknowledge them with the Earth Observation technologies (EO principles, satellite orbits, data acquisition, data pre-processing and classification and accuracy assessment, GNSS and Galileo technologies) and some topical EO applications such as EO applications in Climate Change and ecosystem services studies. The attendees of the SS will receive Certificates of Attendance. The participation to the EEOBSS SS is free. The documents for application are a Motivation Letter and Letter of Recommendation from the form-master (in English and Bulgarian). The application documents have to be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org by 15 August 2017. Notification of acceptance: by 30 August 2017.
The goal of the EEOBSS Workshop is to present current European trends and future opportunities for Earth Observation (EO) education in Bulgarian secondary schools. Through an open discussion at the end of the Workshop, the EEOBSS participants will review the recent research accomplishments in the EO education and will come up a document which will be distributed to main stakeholders in the secondary school education. The Workshop objectives are also directed to:
- foster new ideas for network collaborations and joint projects/articles by participants;
- address specific issues/needs in EO secondary school education in Bulgaria.
The workshop will also facilitate the discussions and further work of the EEOBSS Project in: development and publishing of the EEOBSS EO lecture notes and organizing the follow-up event (Round table) in Sofia in November 2017 during SES’2017.
